Co-creation arena is an online platform for stakeholder engagement. Through the platform citizens can collaborate with the municipality and report underlaying problems happening in their city. With the platform, citizens can alert the municipality of problems and work together on defining a suitable Nature Based Solution.
How to use it:
1. A citizen starts the co-creation activities creating a “problem“ through ONIA.
An example of problem could be:
- poor quality of water in a river;
- air pollution in a district;
- Crowded urban areas
2. Municipality takes the problem into account and creates a challenge to stimulate the citizen participation. Municipality indicates the challenge evaluation criteria to keep the process transparent.
3. Several citizens participate in the challenge discussion submitting possible ideas of solutions.
If possible, the author indicates relationship with a possible already implemented NBS.
4. Municipality evaluates the ideas gathered and selects the idea that is most appropriate
The evaluation period is closed and the evaluations are publicly accessible.
5. The author of the selected idea receives a notification and is asked to refine the idea.
He/she involves other users to begin co-working;
He/she assigns tasks to the co-workers to provide solution specification and additional technical/business details. They indicate relationship with a possible already implemented NBS. When the idea refinement is completed, the Municipality promote the idea to the implementation and monitoring phase.
Facilitation notes:
Citizens are not expected to identify NBS. They will provide simple ideas of a possible solution and will collaborate to refine and implement it. They will provide also some important elements and requirements (form their point of view) to be addressed. The ULL manager and expert users from the municipality will evaluate the gathered ideas to identify the better solution to be implemented as NBS.
