Description

Areas of derelict infrastructure, e.g. railway lines, that are transformed into linear parks play an important role in urban green infrastructure networks and help to re-nature cities. Regeneration along waterways and rivers also often results in linear, interconnecting parks. Green corridors can increase accessibility to green spaces while promoting environmentally sustainable transportation like walking and cycling. Additionally, they may support biodiversity via improved ecological networks and habitat connectivity.

Conditions for Implementation
  • Abandoned traffic infrastructure with enough surrounding space is often convenient for the establishment of green corridors
